Finding the right clothing can be a challenge for anyone — but if you’re autistic, it can be a whole different level.

A lot of autistic people have sensory sensitivities. That can mean certain fabrics feel horrible, seams can be distracting, and labels can be unbearable. Sometimes it’s not even the design of the clothing — it’s just the feeling of wearing it.

That’s one of the reasons I created Comfort Club.

I wanted to make T-shirts and hoodies that are soft, tagless, and comfortable for sensitive skin — but also look cool. I design all of the artwork myself on my iPad, and every item is printed on demand.

Most of my Comfort Club designs have artwork on the front, and a message on the back — sometimes subtle, sometimes not so subtle.

Growing up, one of the hardest things for me and my parents (apart from having meltdowns in public) was the people watching.

My mum told me that when I was younger, the stares and head-shaking made everything feel even worse. It was overwhelming and it made situations harder for both of us. So, my mum started getting T-shirts made that said I was autistic.

And it actually helped.

People were more understanding. Some people were kinder and a few even asked where we got the shirts from.

Why I’m doing this

I love drawing. I love creating things. And I want Comfort Club to help other autistic kids and adults — and the parents who are doing their best every day.

Because the truth is: living in a world built for “normal” people can be exhausting.
